AP Language and Composition
The first goal of this class is to enable the AP English Language student to write effectively and confidently across the curriculum, whether on a secondary or college level with the primary emphasis on analysis, argument, and synthesis. The second goal is to enable the AP student to read and understand complex texts. And, the third goal is to enable the AP student to use prose writing to communicate effectively with a wide-ranging and mature audience.
The AP English Language Trinity: Rhetorical Analysis; Argument; Synthesis.
At the end of the course, the student will have demonstrated a mastery of the skills which enable him/her to write competent, freshman level university essays.
These skills include:
A. PRE-WRITING (Finding a Thesis)
B. ORGANIZATION (Planning a Paper)
C. SUPPORT (Supporting the Thesis)
D. GRAMMAR, MECHANICS, STYLE (Syntax)
